GENERAL OVERVIEW

Over 50 years' experience as a civil trial lawyer, representing private and public owners, construction managers, contractors, subcontractors, sureties, fabricators, material suppliers, engineers and architects in all aspects of construction in arbitration as well as litigation in state and federal courts in Pennsylvania and elsewhere.

MEDIATION Experience

Mediated more than 200 construction and other matters in which the amounts in dispute have ranged from $50,000.00 to more than 10 million dollars. Mediate cases as a Judge Pro Tem for the Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia County.

Representative cases involve:

A dispute between a governmental body and an authority resulting not only in a large monetary settlement (in excess of $500,000.00), but also the negotiation of an extension of existing contract.

A dispute between a public-funded entity and a large national contractor involving termination, claim by the contractor for contract balance and claim by owner for cost to complete, resulting in a $5 million-plus settlement.

A dispute between a contractor specializing in high-end residential construction and homeowners involving contested change order work and alleged defective construction.

PRepresentative Issues Handled as an Arbitrator

Extensive experience as an arbitrator of residential and commercial (private and public) disputes. Serving solo or on three-person arbitration panels. Cases involve claims for less than $75,000.00 to more than 20 million. Arbitrated more than 500 cases. A small sample of representative cases:
